Ann Hamerton (1900-1997)

Sometime in the last decade, Sherborne School for Girls was handed a parcel of manuscripts by Ann Hamerton - mainly vocal but including a viola piece entitled ‘Rain’ written in 1940 and a Harp Sonatina. I think they are beautifully crafted and well-worth performing and have started to publish them.

Please let us know if you know anything about her - it looks as if one of her pieces, ‘The Persian Flute’ was broadcast on the BBC. (A quick internet search reveals three oboe pieces published by Augener in 1958 and a couple of songs.)
